I had to delete my email account in outlook app and need to reinstall it. When I try to set it up, it takes to ATT.com . Can someone assist me in setting this email account up?

Let's help you set your email back up, @jv1226!

In order to ensure you're setting up your Outlook properly, we recommend checking out our article on Setting up or updating AT&T email for Microsoft Outlook. You can use the drop-down menu at the top to select your version of Outlook.

  • If you're using Outlook on a mobile device, you may need to set up OAuth, or Open Authentication.
  • If you're using Outlook on a PC, you may need to create a Secure Mail Key.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes. If not, there are other things we can do.

I have tried everything to setup my email account on Outlook App. I secured a secure mail key and when I am finished and hit the check mark it tells me to check email address or password and try again. I have done this 6 times and still nothing.

Is this the app on a mobile device and if so, iOS or Android? Or Outlook on the PC/Mac?

Are you trying for IMAP or POP3?

Let's get that email set back up,jv1226.

Since you have created the secure mail key that means that you are able to get into your account profile and settings. So your user name and password is correct. The next step is that you need to manually set the account back up in your Outlook app.

We do not have a walkthrough for the Outlook app, but the first link that we have provided will give you the settings that is needed. We do recommend that you use the IMAP settings and not the POP3. Also, every time you come across "password" replace that with the Secure Mail Key.

If you need a walkthrough you can go to Microsoft's support website and get one. Using the walkthrough from Microsoft, and our settings, you should be able to set the account back up again.

Please let us know if you are able to get your app set back up.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but when I type in all of the server information, email address, and password, I click on the check mark in the top right hand corner and it gives me the error message to Check login information and password again. I've done this another 5 times and same error. I don't know if this will help but originally this was a yahoo email account but now it's through ATT.

I tried to contact them and still the same issues.

It makes it a bit difficult for me to help if you won't answer my questions.

Let's straighten this email app out, jv1226

First and foremost, lit looks like that you have not created the secure mail key. Let's walk you through how to do that:

  1. Go toProfileand chooseSign-in info.
  2. Select the email account that needs a secure mail key. (You’ll find a menu at the top if you have multiple accounts.)
  3. Scroll toSecure mail keyand selectManage secure mail key.
  4. Choose the email address that you’d like to use, if you have more than one.
  5. SelectAdd secure mail keyand then enter a nickname for the secure mail key to make it easier to recognize.
  6. ChooseCreate secure mail key.
  7. SelectCopy secure mail key to clipboard. Make a note of your secure mail key, so you have it handy if you need to update an email app on several devices.
    • For security purposes, the secure mail key onlydisplays until you selectOK.
    • If you lose or forget the secure mail key, you can create new secure mail keys.
  8. SelectOK.
  9. Go to your preferred email app and replace the existing password with your secure mail key. For an IMAP account, delete the existing password for both the IMAP and SMTP servers and replace them with your secure mail key.

After creating the secure mail key, then you will need maually enter the settings into your Outlook app.

The secure mail key replaces the email password.

Please upate us on your progress. If you are unable to get your Outlook app to connect, then you will need to contact Microsoft for assitance.

I am now being informed by ATT.com that I have sync issues that should be resolved in 15 minutes. Well, that was 3 hours ago and I still cannot setup my email account in the Outlook app on my Android phone.

Looks like we need to take a different tactic, jv1226.

What we will do is take you into a Direct Message. You will notice a chat icon next to a bell icon on the top of the page, on the right-hand side. Our next message to you will appear there.

In the meantime, please go through and create the secure mail key as @ATTHelp recommended. Also, please gather your account information together. Do not post it here. We will ask for it again.

Looking forward to working you to get this app set up.
