Here's what's happening this week in the Chattanooga area.
Good to know
Two Chattanooga attractions are on the list of Blue Star Museums this summer, offering free admission to active-duty military personnel and their families, including the National Guard and Reserves. The Hunter Museum of American Art, 10 Bluff View, and the International Towing & Recovery Museum, 3315 Broad St., are among 17 places in Tennessee offering the promotion. Georgia's closest freebie for military families is Oak Hill and the Martha Berry Museum, 2277 Martha Berry Highway NW in Rome. More than 2,000 facilities across the nation are taking part in the initiative, a partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts and Blue Star Families, in collaboration with the Defense Department. The program started Armed Forces Day and lasts through Labor Day, Sept. 2. The website arts.gov notes that more museums may be added during the summer.
