MaxPreps Top 50 national high school baseball rankings (1)

Chase Green and Keller have entered the rankings at No. 27, and are still alive in the Texas playoffs.

1. (last week 1) Parkview (Lilburn, Ga.), 34-2
Parkview captured the Class 6A state championship by defeating Walton (Marietta) 3-0 and 8-1 in the championship series. Ryne Inman went the distance for the shutout win, giving up three hits and striking out six. Austin Biggar hit his 11th home run on the season in the 8-1 win. Parkview also defeated Pope (Marietta) 3-2 and 12-3 in the semifinals. Brandon Hill had a home run and four RBIs in the latter game.

2. (3) Oak Ridge (Conroe, Texas), 27-1
Oak Ridge advanced to the Class 6A regional semifinals by blanking Austin Bowie in two games. Durbin Feltman pitched a one-hitter with 13 strikeouts in a 4-0 win. Luken Baker picked up the shutout win in the second game, a 2-0 victory, striking out seven and giving up one hit. He also went 3-for-3 at the plate.

3. (4) Canyon del Oro (Tucson, Ariz.), 32-2
The Dorados won the eighth state championship in school history with a 3-1 win over Tucson in the Arizona Division II state tournament. Canyon del Oro made news when nine seniors decided to attend the championship game rather than attend their own high school graduation ceremony.

4. (6) San Dimas (Calif.), 29-0
San Dimas opened the Southern Section Division 3 playoffs with a 9-0 win over La Quinta, as Peter Lambert pitched a one-hitter and struck out four. He also led the offense with a home run.

5. (7) Dallas Jesuit (Texas), 31-2-2
The Rangers swept Highland Park in two games in the Texas Class 6A regional quarterfinals. Darius Hill had a home run to provide the only run in a 1-0 win. Bryce Bonner drove in a pair of runs in a 5-3 victory.

6. (9) Oxford (Miss.), 35-1
Oxford captured the Mississippi Class 5A state championship series in two games over George County. Houston Roth tossed a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts in a 4-0 victory. Grae Kessinger drove in three runs in a 9-0 win.

7. (11) Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas), 32-3
Nevada Division I state champion. Season over.

8. (13) JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.), 26-4-1
Chase Strumpf hit a home run and Jake Pries had two doubles to lead JSerra Catholic to an 8-3 win over Temecula Valley in the second round of the Southern Section Division 1 playoffs.

9. (14) Buford (Ga.), 32-2
Buford captured the Class 4A state championship with a 5-0, 3-1 series win over Whitewater. Buford also swept Cartersville 10-0, 10-3 in the semifinals.

10. (15) Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.), 26-1
The Ironmen defeated Bergen Catholic 9-5 to win the Bergen County championship. Don Bosco also beat North Highlands 5-0, Immaculata 9-4 and Mahwah 4-3 last week.

11. (16) College Park (Pleasant Hill, Calif.), 22-4
College Park closed out the regular season with a 3-1 win over Northgate (Walnut Creek) and a 3-0 win over Clayton Valley Charter (Concord). Joe DeMers picked up the shutout win over Clayton Valley Charter, giving up one hit while striking out three.

12. (8) Alexander (Laredo, Texas), 27-3
Alexander advanced to the Texas Class 6A regional semifinals by beating Palmview in a three-game series, 7-1, 6-8 and 9-3.

13. (19) Archbishop Moeller (Cincinnati), 27-3
The Crusaders closed out the regular season with a 7-2 win over Fairfield and a 6-0 win over Beavercreek.

14. (NR) Columbus (Miami), 27-5
Alain Santana pitched a two-hitter and also hit a home run to lead Columbus to a 10-1 win over University (Orange City) in the Class 8A state championship game.

15. (22) Archbishop McCarthy (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), 27-5
Florida Class 5A state champion. Season over.

16. (26) Venice (Fla.), 29-3
Florida Class 6A state champion. Season over.

17. (24) Buchanan (Clovis, Calif.), 29-4
Chandler Bengsten hit a grand slam to lead the Bears to a 15-1 win over defending section champion Clovis. He also added two doubles and had six RBIs in the game. Buchanan defeated Tulare Western 6-1 in the semifinals.

18. (25) Edwardsville (Ill.), 31-1
Edwardsville continued its strong play with a 9-4 win over Collinsville and an 11-1 win over Chatham Glenwood.

19. (27) Saint Francis (Mountain View, Calif.), 27-5
The Lancers opened the Central Coast Section Open Division playoffs with a 5-0 win over Leigh and a 2-0 win over Wilcox in the first two rounds.

20. (29) Barbe (Lake Charles, La.), 34-10
Louisiana Class 5A state champion. Season over.

21. (33) Walsh Jesuit (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio), 25-3
The Warriors won the Hudson Division I District championship with a 5-4 win over previously undefeated Wadsworth. Walsh Jesuit also defeated Hudson 4-3 in the semifinals.

22. (34) Jasper (Ind.), 22-1
Jasper rebounded from its first loss of the season two weeks ago to beat Boonville 4-1 and Bloomfield 12-2 last week.

23. (35) Indianapolis Cathedral (Indiana), 22-1
The Irish won a pair of shutouts last week, beating Bishop Chatard (Indianapolis) 7-0 and Warren Central 8-0.

24. (38) Reagan (San Antonio), 30-4
Reagan got past Smithson Valley 11-0 and 6-5 in the regional quarterfinals of the Texas Class 6A state playoffs.

25. (39) Providence (Charlotte, N.C.), 27-3
Providence defeated previously undefeated South Caldwell (Hudson) 8-7 and also North Davidson (Lexington) 8-3 to reach the North Carolina Class 4A semifinals.

26. (2) Park Vista (Lake Worth, Fla.), 28-3
Park Vista lost to Columbus (Miami) 5-4 in the Florida Class 8A semifinals.

27. (NR) Keller (Texas), 26-5-1
Keller defeated defending state champion Flower Mound 5-1, 1-2 and 10-5 in the regional quarterfinals.

28. (10) Flower Mound (Texas), 29-6
The defending state champions lost to Keller 1-5, 2-1 and 5-10 in the regional quarterfinals. Season over.

29. (31) Chicago Mt. Carmel (Illinois), 30-4
Mt. Carmel lost to Downers Grove South 6-1 early in the week, but defeated St. Laurence 3-2 and 8-3, and knocked off St. Rita 3-1.

31. (21) Olympia (Orlando, Fla.), 27-2
Season over.

32. (23) Mosley (Lynn Haven, Fla.), 28-4

34. (5) South Caldwell (Hudson, N.C.), 26-1
South Caldwell lost to Providence 8-7 in the North Carolina Class 4A state playoffs. Season over.

35. (20) Whitewater (Fayetteville, Ga.), 29-7
Whitewater defeated Veterans (Kathleen) 1-0 and 5-1 in the Georgia Class 4A state semifinals, but lost to Buford 5-0 and 3-1 in the championship series.

36. (NR) Hardin Valley Academy (Knoxville, Tenn.), 30-15
In its seventh game against Farragut (Knoxville) during the season, Hardin Valley defeated the Admirals 10-2 for the Tennessee Class 3A state championship.

37. (18) Farragut (Knoxville, Tenn.), 41-8
Farragut lost to Hardin Valley (Knoxville) 10-2 in the Class 3A state title game. The Admirals won the Upper Bracket tournament, beating East Hamilton 2-0, losing to Houston 5-1, beating Ravenwood 11-1 and then Houston 7-2 and 4-3.

38. (NR) DeSoto Central (Southaven, Miss.), 28-9
DeSoto Central defeated Oak Grove 6-4 and 7-2 to win the Mississippi Class 6A state championship.

39. (NR) Houston (Germantown, Tenn.), 31-10
Houston defeated Farragut 5-1 in the Class 3A Upper Bracket semifinals, but lost in the championship game to the Admirals 7-2 and 4-3.

40. (NR) Bartlett (Tenn.), 33-9
Bartlett reached the Tennessee Class 3A Lower Bracket championship game, falling to Hardin Valley Academy 8-3.

41. (40) Cullman (Ala.), 45-10
Alabama Class 6A state champion. Season over.

42. (45) Mesquite (Gilbert, Ariz.), 24-9
Mesquite defeated Liberty (Peoria) 5-2 to win the Arizona Division I state championship.

43. (47) Owasso (Okla.), 28-5
Oklahoma Class 6A state champion. Season over.

44. (50) Pleasant Grove (Utah), 27-3
Pleasant Grove captured the Utah Class 5A state championship with a 6-2 win over Bingham. Pleasant Grove defeated Fremont in the quarterfinals 15-4 and Cottonwood in the semifinals 3-2. It also lost to Bingham 8-7 in the first championship game before winning the second game.

45. (41) Deer Park (Texas), 29-3-1
Deer Park advanced to the regional semifinals with a 3-0, 2-5, 9-3 series win over Clear Springs.

46. (32) St. Rita (Chicago), 29-6
St. Rita fell twice last week, losing to Chicago Mount Carmel 3-1 and Providence Catholic 10-2. It also defeated Marian Catholic 4-0.

47. (42) Walton (Marietta, Ga.), 30-7
Walton defeated Kennesaw Mountain 4-2, 3-4 and 5-4 in the Class AAAAAA semifinals before falling to Parkview 3-0, 8-1 in the state championship series.

48. (48) Catholic (Baton Rouge, La.), 37-5
Season over.

49. (NR) Oviedo (Fla.), 24-5-1
Oviedo defeated Sarasota 9-5 to win the Florida Class 7A state championship.

50. (NR) Wando (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.), 25-8
Wando defeated Mann (Greenville) 5-2 and 6-4 to win the South Carolina Class 4A state championship.
