KLM Crown Lounge 52 in Amsterdam Schiphol Airport - Terminal 2 | The RTW Guys (2024)

I recently visited KLM Crown Lounge 52 in Amsterdam. Here’s how KLM describes this lounge:

In the hectic environment of the airport, our lounges are an oasis of peace and comfort.

Nahhhhh. Not really.

At least not in the morning.

I’m going to admit to you that I spent a grand total of only 20-30 minutes in this lounge. I tried the food, peeked in the bathrooms, and walked around to take pictures.

But honestly, this lounge was anything but an “oasis of peace and comfort.”

The place was jammed with people. Most of the time I spent here was waiting in line to get food and something to drink.

Don’t get me wrong. It’s quite a nice lounge and it’s very large, so I can imagine when it’s not overcrowded that it’s a very decent place to relax.

Just not when I was there. In fact, I left and went back to the Aspire Lounge 41. Also crowded, but much less so.

Locating KLM Crown Lounge 52

The one thing you might not like about Amsterdam’s airport is that it isbit confusing. The good news is that the signage here is excellent.

All around the airport, you’ll see signs like this:

All you have to do is follow the signs to “Lounge 52.” I’m not exactly sure why they do it this way, but at least the signs are plentiful.

It’s very close to the F Gates. You’ll need to take an elevator.

Accessing KLM Crown Lounge 52 at AMS

Although it is a KLM Crown Lounge, this lounge is shared by KLM, Air France, and Delta. The lounge is open to all Business Class passengers, Flying Blue Platinum or Gold members, or SkyTeam Elite Plus members.

When I was here, I happened to be flying internationally (AMS > ATL) as a Delta Platinum Medallion member. That means I have SkyTeam Elite Plus status.

If you haveSkyTeam Elite Plus status, you can also bring a guest – just not during the peak hours of early to mid-morning.

This is not aPriority PassAmsterdam lounge. If you’re looking for a Priority Pass Amsterdam Shipol lounge, there are currently 2:

  • Aspire Lounge Terminal 1 (#26)
  • Aspire Lounge Terminal 3 (#41)

When we fly, we always take our Priority Pass to get into over 1,200 lounges at airports around the world (and get discounts at several restaurants!) If you travel, consider getting a Priority Pass Membership and stop paying for drinks and food at the airport!

KLM Lounge 52 Layout

This Crown lounge is one of the largest lounges I’ve ever been in. It’s a split-level with various sections of the lounge offering a different look and feel.

There are comfortable plush chairs, many that have built-in plugs, in an area of the lounge that feels very warm and cozy.

Another area of the KLM Crown Lounge is brighter and more casual. It feels like you’re sitting on a patio.

And then there are areas with table seating where it feel more like a classy cafeteria.

In other words, I think everyone who comes in will find a place suited to their personal taste.

Food and Drink at KLM Crown Lounge 52

Food at KLM Crown Lounge 52

The food at this lounge was very good. I didn’t try any of the hot food, but I asked a couple of people and they said the soup and hot food was delicious.

I built myself a sandwich at the sandwich station. They have a decent selection of breads, cheeses, meats, and vegetables – all combined (well, except the meat for me) to make the perfect sandwich.

Of course, there were plenty of other things, as well – cookies, cakes, stroopwaffels (!!!), and much more.

Drinks at KLM Crown Lounge 52

KLM Lounge 52 in Amsterdam Terminal 2 has a great selection of liquor – including all the basics that most people want – vodka, rum, scotch, gin, vermouth – including a few premium brands.

And it’s all self-serve.

There are plenty of mixers too, so you can pretty much make any type of drink you like.

I honestly didn’t see any wine, but I am sure they have a very good selection. I must have just missed it in the crowded lounge.

Like the Aspire Lounge, the KLM Lounge only offers Heineken beer. I couldn’t find anything else.

The coffee from the machines was very good. And you can make pretty much any espresso-style drink you like.

Amenities at Schiphol’s KLM Lounge

Wi-Fi

The Wi-Fi here is free, and it’s decently fast. I suspect it’s even faster during non-peak times. You need to get the password at the reception desk.

Toilets

As I always expect in lounges owned by good airlines, the bathrooms in this lounge are very clean. That might not seem very surprising, but remember, this place is super crowded.

So it’s impressive that the staff can keep up.

Business area

The KLM Crown lounge has a business area pretty much in the center of the lounge. It’s not overly huge, but it works. There is a printer just outside that section.

It’s also quite dark with an illuminated blue post in the middle of the room – making it nearly impossible to get a decent picture!

Showers

KLM Crown Lounge 52 has showers that you may use for free; however, you have to reserve them and the wait times can be long. If you’re going to be here for awhile, use the shower.

A shower before or after a flight is the best!

KLM Help Desk

KLM Crown Lounge 52 in Amsterdam Schiphol Airport - Terminal 2 | The RTW Guys (9)

There are several attendants at a separate desk inside the lounge who can help you with anything you need related to your flights.

KLM Crown Lounge 52 Smoking area

There is a separate, and very large, smoking area towards the back of the lounge. I was honestly very surprised at how nice it was. It has the same plush chairs as the other part of the lounge, a view of the tarmac, coffee machines, and more.

And the best part is that there weren’t many people in there. I wouldn’t normally recommend that non-smokers sit in smoking areas, obviously. But if that’s not something that bothers you, this is the quietest, least insane section of the lounge.

Electricity

There are lots of European-style plugs in the KLM lounge. I looked everywhere and did not find any USB ports.

Conclusion

The staff here is great. So is the food. And the coffee was very good for “machine coffee.” I highly recommend KLM Crown Lounge 52 if you’re flying through Amsterdam Schiphol.

Except… in the morning.

KLM Crown Lounge 52 in Amsterdam Schiphol Airport - Terminal 2 | The RTW Guys (11)

If you’re here in the morning, you’re going to be fighting crowds for seating. I actually would love to say I enjoyed this lounge. But I didn’t. There were far too many people in the lounge to enjoy it.

I suspect in the afternoon and evening, it’s probably a pleasure to be in here.

But not in the morning.

So factor all that into your decision to visit KLM Crown Lounge 52 in Amsterdam.
