Roguelike games come in all shapes and sizes, but rarely are they fully 3D space shooters like Everspace 2. On every run, you take control of a cloned pilot named Adam attempting to navigate the many perils of Cluster 34. While every run will see different encounters and loot drops, your ship is going to dictate the majority of how you approach every situation.
Everspace 2 features nine ships divided among the heavy, medium, and light classifications. To add even more complexity, each ship also has its own abilities and weapons, plus speeds and shield strength. A pilot is only as good as their ship allows, so saddle up in the best ones Everspace 2 has to offer – and this guide will tell you which ones are truly the best of the best!
Best Ships To Pilot In Everspace 2
There will be some personal preferences when it comes to which co*ckpit is best. That said, there are a few that simply do seem to stand above the rest.
- Vindicator: This is a heavy-class ship, but the fastest one in its class. What makes it so powerful – and fun! – are the drones it uses to attack. This swarm of attackers can be focused onto a single target using the Phalanx ability, plus restore any drones that may have been taken out. The passive skill, Reanimator, allows your ship to salvage any wreckage that can occasionally appear after destroying an enemy and use it to restore one of your drones.
- Striker: As the name suggests, this medium-class ship is made for getting in close and hitting hard. As such, it has the Close Combat passive that increases weapon damage by 5% for all enemies within 500m (30% max). When you trigger Striker’s ultimate ability, Quantum Tether, you can chain up to five ships together so that any damage you deal to one is applied to the others.
- Vanguard: For a light-class ship, you can’t go wrong with the speedy Vanguard. However, speed isn’t this ship’s only claim to fame. Its Overchargepassive overcharges its shields to 200% whenever you accelerate above normal speeds. Now, what makes this ship really unique is it Time Extender ultimate. The description only says it bends the spacetime continuum around the ship, but in reality, it instantly recharges all your ship’s weapons and energy, which is invaluable in a pinch!
Which ships inEverspace 2 are your favorite so far? Do you have a preferred weight class, or like to mix it up? Let us know how your space adventures are going in the comments!
